Prozac

Prozac is a popular antidepressant used to treat depression, compulsive or obsessive disorders, bulimia nervosa, premenstrual dysphoric disorders and panic disorders. By taking this medicine, sometimes serious reactions and long-term side effects may occur. Many people experience some symptoms only for the duration of the treatment.

Serious side effects related with this medication include seizure, anxiety, panic attacks, mood or behavior changes, impulsive feeling, trouble sleeping, irritable, agitated, aggressive, hostile, restless, hyperactive (physically or mentally), more depression, thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself. Call your doctor immediately if you have any of these symptoms. Some people experience allergic reactions such as skin rash or hives and swelling of face, tongue, lips, or throat. Muscle pain, back pain, joint pain, bronchitis, insomnia, rhinitis are also linked with this medicine.

At the beginning of Prozac, you may experience restlessness, insomnia, nausea, and tension headaches, which normally subside within one or two weeks. Fatigue and memory loss are other problems that go away when you stop taking the drug. The medicine affect your sex life. In both men and women, it frequently reduces the sexual desire and can delay or interfere with orgasm. Along with these symptoms, the medicine also brings some less serious side effects that include drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, sore throat, runny nose, flu symptoms, headache, diarrhea, weight changes, changes in appetite, dry mouth and increased sweating. Problems with balance or coordination, agitation, sweating, confusion, abnormal dreams, breathing difficulties, and fast heartbeat are also commonly found.

Prozac side effects found in women are lack of menstruation, breast pain, fibrocystic breast, white or yellow discharge from the vagina, menopause, excessive menstrual bleeding and ovarian disorder. Other possible problems include spontaneous loss of a pregnancy or conception, breast enlargement, pain during intercourse, milk production from the breasts, decreased menstrual bleeding, inflammation of the fallopian tubes and bleeding between periods.

You are not permissible to take Prozac, if you have any of the medical conditions like cirrhosis of the liver, kidney diseases, diabetes, seizures or epilepsy, bipolar disorder or manic depression, drug abuse or suicidal thoughts. Overdose of Prozac cause the symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, sleepiness, rapid or uneven heartbeat, confusion, fainting, seizures, or coma. Paxil, Luvox, Tofranil, Anafranil, Elavil, Wellbutrin, Celexa, Zoloft, Zonalon and Vivactil are the other popular medicines for depression.
